On line scripts

Postby speedy » Sat Oct 03, 2009 12:41 pm

There is a web site that allows anyone to view scanned copies of revised scripts for the Jack Benny program. These scripts seem to be the final revisions that were used for broadcast. In some cases, the revisions are shown as hand written changes to the original typed script or as cross outs of original typed dialogue, allowing you to see the changes from the original script. I guess sometimes there was no time to re-type the final changes. Here's the link:

These scripts were provided for possible use as part of the recent tobacco litigation, so they only cover the Lucky Strike sponsored shows. It's kind of interesting to see the many changes that were made to fine tune the original script, or to perhaps shorten a show that ran long in rehearsal.

Here is an easier to access supply of hundreds of Jack's scripts.

That's great! Sometimes the Quartet's lyrics are drowned out by Jack so now I can read them.

Nice to see the full cast listed, too.

It's fun to read the scripts where Fred Allen or Bob Hope were the guest because of all the crossed out sections with new lines handwritten in!

Thank you very much. These are great! (but I am a geek when it comes to stuff like this)
