Where were radio shows performed

Postby jhester » Thu Jun 04, 2009 5:29 am

Hi everyone,
I'm new in the forum, so I apologize if I'm covering old ground here, but since my interest in Jack's radio is relatively new - and my knowledge of Jack Benny trivia may pale in comparison with many here - could someone tell me where Jack's radio show was broadcast from, or transcribed as the later shows were?

I know it was first broadcast from NYC before heading west, but I'm referring to specific locations. Are the studios (actual buildings) still in existence?

Thanks!

I'll give the quick easy part of the answer (because I drove past there last night.)
The NBC radio studio complex (also used for some early TV) at Sunset and Vine (N.E. corner) was demolished circa 1964 and replaced by a bank-- Home Savings, later absorbed by Washington Mutual, now Chase.
Folks on this board naturally wish they could turn the clock back to the 50s or earlier... but I can tell you a lot of Home Savings customers would settle for turning it back to 1975!
