Six Degrees of Separation from Jack Benny

Postby Maxwell » Sun Jul 23, 2006 10:23 pm

My six degrees of separation from Jack Benny (based on minimal research):

My parents knew and went to school with character actor John Damler (every time my dad would see him in a TV show he'd say, "That's Jackie Damler!") who appeared in an episode of "A Man Called Shenandoah" starring Robert Horton who co-starred with Ward Bond in the TV series "Wagon Train" who appeared in the film "Little Old New York" with Alice Faye and Andy Devine, both of whom appeared with Jack Benny.

Nice thread :D Here's my Five Degrees of Benny Separation:

1. I work with Michael Bailey Smith
2. Michael Bailey Smith was in Town & Country (2001) with Andie MacDowell
3. Andie MacDowell was in Beauty Shop (2005) with Kevin Bacon
4. Kevin Bacon was in JFK (1991) with Walter Matthau
5. Jack Benny was in A Guide for the Married Man (1967) with Walter Matthau

Thank the Oracle of Bacon for the info - http://oracleofbacon.org/

Wow! Thanks for that web site. I cut my degrees of separation from Jack in half to three by using it!

1. My parents knew and went to school with John Damler

2. John Damler was in an episode of "Nanny and the Professor" with Dee Carroll.

3. Dee Carroll was in "Guide for the Married Man" with Jack Benny.

I once taught with a musician who as a young man performed in an orchestra and worked with Jack Benny when he did a benefit performance for the orchestra. I've long since lost touch with the gentleman, but he warmly remembered working with Jack.

Gee...I don't think I can play this game without cheating. E.g.:

1. I know Joan Benny.
2. Done.

Unless you want to count my discovery of a box of Grape Nuts at the grocery store, this is the closest I can get:

1. I worked (for one day) with the late George Lafleche.
2. His sister was named Gisele.
3. The same Gisele MacKenzie appeared with a certain Mr. B.

I can also claim six *blocks* of seperation from Mary, as Nelson Street is a block and a half from my home. Mary's old house was mid-block at the bottom of the hill between Bidwell and Denman, which is about another 4 1/2 blocks away.
