Hi folks,

Let's see if anyone can get this bit of minutia...

Find a television appearance where Jack says "Now CUT THAT OUT!" It can be from a television show or one of the color specials.

Go get it, folks!

One of the funniest, Johnny Carson's first guest appearance on Jack's show in 1955. "Now cut that out!" is around 1:45 into the clip:

How funny...I almost went to look at that interaction to find it. But I need something a little later date-wise (reasons are a little complicated, will be revealed later). What else can you find?

"Now cut that out!" is the almost guaranteed end product of any Frank Nelson appearance, I'd look to those to find an usable clip. Here's a late one, the episode where Jack is renting out his house and Nelson shows up as a travel agent:

Yes, I went right for Frank Nelson as well. I'm just not far enough into 39 Forever Volume 3 to be sure of every show on which he appeared.

I love this clip and the time frame seems perfect, but I can't use it either (it's bizarrely public domain among tons of MCA-owned shows...and I actually need something owned by MCA). I'm looking too, but please advise if you find more. Thanks for your help!

Hey, SS, in the background at the start, there's that house I was asking about in the other thread. Thanks.

Wow Yht, you have keen powers of perception if those are really the same houses. Aside from the little gabled dormer, I can't see enough of the house in the clip to make it obvious to me.

I'd guess it's just a backdrop they had on hand in the scene dock at CBS. But maybe it is painted from a backlot house or something that is striking your memory?

That's sort of what I'm thinking, SS. But I'll be damned what show I saw it on. It had to be from a comedy from the 1950s or early 60s.

Considering there were so few exterior shots then, I don't know why it's striking me as so familiar.

What's interesting is that it looks like that may have been a live show (note Frank Nelson's timing miss shortly after Niagara Falls) plus the fact that MCA didn't copyright it (for some reason, they didn't copyright many of the live shows). And the live shows were done from CBS because they had to go out, well, LIVE.

Having just walked around that area at Television City, the storage for the cyclorama backdrops is just steps away from the stages where these shows are done (understandably...who wants to try and tote a cyc between floors? They don't fit in the elevator). And many of the CBS cycs have been around a long time. So it's quite possible that I just walked by your house in December, all wrapped up in storage!

By the way, found my clip...in the 1966 Jack Benny Hour!

Well, correction, I'm still looking. The clip I found from 1966 got a thumbs-down. They want a clip of Jack in an "iconic" setting, like a train station, his house, or even on stage with a guest star (like with Carson above) doing "Now cut that out!" And we're looking for something either from the color specials or from television shows from about 1960-65 (most of which were owned by MCA).

So any more help you can give is greatly appreciated!

LOL, After you thought you'd found a suitable clip, I did come across another Frank Nelson appearance with a "Now cut that out!" ... the October 9, 1955 show. Which I think is owned by MCA.

BUT ... uh, ithe scene is Jack is wearing only his underpants while being rubbed down with chicken fat by Frank Nelson ... I don't know if that is suitably "iconic" ROFLMAO...

I'll keep my eye out.

Unfortunately, they don't own it any more! That was one of the ones they let expire. So that one's PD. I also scanned the scripts of the shows I had that are still owned by MCA up through about 1959, and no love there. So I'd say you're safe to limit any searching to 1960 or later. Happy hunting!

The only other "Now cut that out" I came across in the shows I have access to (which isn't a whole lot), is in "Main Street Shelter" 4/9/1961 - again, Jack's homeless for the day, so he's wearing a grunge-rock outfit rather than his usual suit. But maybe it's useful!

Good one! I spent a bunch of hours this afternoon going through a large number of shows, and turned up FIVE "Now cut that outs" (well, four, plus this one). So hopefully one of them will work. I'll let you know!

Not sure if you're still looking for these or if it qualifies, but in "Jack Goes to the Races", Feb 9, 1958, there's a good "Now cut that out" in the scene where Jack and Mary are talking to the waiter in the second act ...
