We all know that Jack bought Don shoelaces. What did Jack get Don the following year?

Was it dates? Or gopher traps? Or paints? I get them all confused at my advancing age. All I know is, they are among my FAVORITE Benny shows of all. I can just picture Jack in the crowded department store and poor Mel (Melvin) starting to crack under the constant returns and indecision. Lots of fun and great stuff.

I agree, these are my favorite episodes of all the series.

That said, I agree with Jack that it was cufflinks. The gopher traps and paints came a few years later.

And then how could we forget BZZZZZZZ "Turn it off, turn it off TURN IT OFF!!!"

OK, folks, here's the answer...

It's a trick question. Jack didn't get Don anything for Christmas next year because when he went shopping, the same clerk from the shoelaces encounters him and gets hysterical. So for Christmas, Jack painted Don's bedroom.

1947. You have to listen to a couple episodes to get it...Mel Blanc going crazy in one episode, and Don and Phil discussing their gifts in the next.
