Sorry, somehow clicking on the link didn't open it. However right clicking and opening in a new window does, as well as coping and pasting, so it is the right link. Try again. It works.

I rediscovered this one last year. I remember being a kid and seeing this on either TNT/TBS or Nickelodeon during their various airings of the Warner cartoons and wondering who these characters were. So much more interesting when you know the show!

On the Looney Tunes Golden DVD commentary about this, someone--I think Leonard Maltin, but I wouldn't swear to that--tells about the studio violinist who suppled Jack Benny Mouse's sounds (I presume union rules wouldn't let Jack do it himself). It took take after take after take--because the violinist couldn't master the art of playing as badly as Jack!

Once one learns to play an instrument it is difficult to emulate the quirks of a beginner's technique.

The DVD commentary track has a brief voice over intro, The rest of the cartoon's commentary track is actual takes from the recording session (including slates) where the violoinist was trying to emulate our little star.
That's funny, Norman Krasna loved that joke.
