Jack's Big Music Show

If any of you have small children, you may be aware of this, but if not, Jack and the gang live on (sort of) on Noggin, the kids' cable channel, in the form of Jack's Big Music Show.

Jack is some sort of animal (mouse, by the looks of things), who is supposed to be a kid who plays in his clubhouse with his friend Mary, his dog Mel, and occasional musical interludes by the Schwartzman Quartet...any of this starting to sound familiar?

Phil, the Cukoo Bird, made a one-time appearance. In one of the Schwartzman Quartet's songs, they referred to "your Uncle Benny in Waukegan.."

Just about to make this same thread after seeing a show this morning with my kid. I'm like, it can't be a coincidence. I then found this on wiki....

"In an interview on the Nick Jr. website, Rudman says that The Jack Benny Show was an influence on Jack's Big Music Show (along with The Little Rascals).[4] The names Jack, Mary, Mel, and the "Schwartzman Quartet" are references to characters on The Jack Benny Show (Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Mel Blanc, and the Sportsmen Quartet)."

One I watched yesterday with my kid had him playing the same violin solo that Jack always played during his lessons. He also broke out with a "YIKES!". My kid loves when the door opens and the Schwartzman come in with a big HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
