It's out! Wishing on a Star: The Life of Eddie Carroll by Carolyn Carroll and yours truly, ISBN 978-1-59393-242-8, has now been published by Bear Manor Media http://www.bearmanormedia.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=620.

I'm grateful to Carolyn for choosing me to cowrite the book with her. It was a lot of work--Carolyn lined up interviews with Eddie's family and friends (and even with Jack's family!), hosted Barbara and me when we flew to California to research the book, personally selected and prepared 140-odd photos, and wrote the time-line for the book as well as supplying memories and anecdotes and writing the last chapter fully on her own. For me it was a great experience, one in which I learned a lot not only about Eddie but about his many show-business friends. I was able to interview Jamie Farr and Frank Ferrante, among so many others, and they were all gracious and generous with their time--Frank contributed a reminiscence about the time he and Eddie appeared in The Odd Couple with Eddie playing Jack playing Felix and he playing Groucho playing Oscar! Also memorable was the meal with Bill and Jen Farmer--Bill voices Goofy--that Carolyn prepared and hosted. Thanks to that, the world now may learn the secret of the Curse of Goofy.

Carolyn and I wound up with a three hundred-plus page book, richly illustrated, that preserves many of Eddie's great show-business stories. The editors told Carolyn they had rarely read such an entertaining manuscript, and two of them said that Eddie's stories about Jack were among the highlights. Thanks again, Carolyn, for all your hard work in difficult times. I'm proud of the book, and I hope readers will enjoy it.
