roll up the awning mother

Can someone tell me the episode where a song is mentioned with the name "Roll Up the Awning Mother Daddy's Leading a Shady Life"? For some reason that popped into my head yesterday even though I haven't listened to that episode in awhile.

As for me, I've never been able to forget Falstaff Openshaw on a Fred Allen show offering his poem, "Mother, Don't Point Father At Me-- He May Be Loaded Again."
It's not even that good, but it's stuck in there forever I guess.

I believe the title was 'Raise the awning, Mother, 'cause Daddy's leading a shady life'. I don't know the date off hand, but I'll post it when I find it. I finally got 'When you say I beg your pardon' out of my head...now I'm going to be hearing this!
"Hey, Jackson, does Fred Allen always talk through his nose?"

"Yes, Phil. He's the only comedian who tells 'em and smells 'em at the same time!"

I don't know if this was ever solved, but the show in question is 1948-11-14 - Jack is worried because Mary is late

Thanks for the answer. I'm listening to 1940 currently. Guess I need to look for that episode to hear it again.

I just ran onto the title in the 10/30/49 Phil Harris--Alice Faye show, where Frankie is reviving the ukulele craze of the 1920s.

Finally got around to listening to this episode today. The song was going to be sung on the Sympathy Soothing Syrup program the next week. The current episode had Larry Stevens singing.
