Film of "King for a Day"

Hey folks,

I've heard about a film of the "King for a Day" sketch with Jack losing his pants to Fred Allen--possibly a newsreel. I think it was from this that people were able to determine that Jack has "LS/MFT" on his underwear.

Does anyone have a bead on where this can be found, or where they've seen it? Would really like to source it. Thanks in advance!

Laura, I tried to find the show you're looking for. There was a "King for a Day" episode on Fred Allen's radio show with Jack Benny on May 26, 1946. At the end of the show, Jack loses his pants somehow so they can be pressed. Here is a link to the script I found.

Oh, man...that would be so COOL if a film exists of that show! I think I've seen a picture in one of the biographies with Jack wearing that underwear, but I'm not sure if I'm just imagining that or not.

To me, that episode is a comedy high mark, in writing and execution. If you find that such footage exists somewhere PLEASE let us know!
