Radio Star Becomes Boxla Fan
Lacross won a new addict at Memorial Arena last night.
Phil Harris, radioa and screen star—and husband of Alice Faye—not only faced off to open the first game of the Inter-City Lacrosse League's best-of-five semi-final playdown between Victoria Shamrocks and North Shore Indians, but he stayed until the final whistle.
Asked for his impression after it was all over, he said—and enthusiastically—"I love that game. I could become a big fan of that game."
With the wit and personality which has won him a large radio following on two programs—his own and Jack Benny's—Harris received plenty of applause for some well-chosen words before the faceoff.
