Phil Harris' "Double or Nothing"

Postby tshaw » Wed Feb 22, 2012 10:57 am

I saw the 20 minute short "Double or Nothing", dated 1936, last night on Turner Classic Movie Channel. It supposedly starred Phil Harris. I am not at all convinced that it was Phil Harris. It looked NOTHING like him. I just saw photos from the 1933 short "Melody Cruise", also starring Phil, and that unmistakingly was Phil. You could tell it was him, big smile and all. But this other guy who was in "Double or Nothing".......I find it impossible that it could be Phil, despite the fact that it says so on IMDB. Does anyone else know who this actor was in "Double or Nothing", or am I just really blind? Thanks for your help!

I figured it out! What TCM showed last night was not Phil Harris' 1936 version of "Double or Nothing", but rather the 1940 version of "Double or Nothing", starring Lee Dixon. That's who I saw. I didn't think Phil stood 6'4". I'm glad to know I haven't gone completely crazy! :-)
