Fun Vintage articles about OTR often with great photos!

I've been enjoying going through the "Google Books" magazine section for great old OTR articles, so I thought I would start posting some. Please add any you find.

This first one is a "Life" article about the great comedians of 1942. It has some great pictures, especially the first big one of Fred Allen, and JAck Benny is considered an old timer even in '42!

Here is a neat one about World War II and it's effect on Radio, again with great pictures, including Fred Allen and the Benny cast!

Here are some fun Fred Allen pics I found in "Life."

I have never seen a picture of Fred as "One Long Pan," but here it is!

Very good photos of Mr. Allen. I especially like the oh so ( or may I say 'ah so' ) politically incorrect shot of One Long Pan. Try to do that today. I was just listening to JB in the car and heard "With those bags under his eyes, Allen's face looks like a pair of pants with the pockets turned unside out".
"Hey, Jackson, does Fred Allen always talk through his nose?"

"Yes, Phil. He's the only comedian who tells 'em and smells 'em at the same time!"

hmmm... those Life magazine archives are free, too...

I think the kids are going to have to arm wrestle me for dibs on the computer now.

Here are a couple of fun vintage Bob Hope centered articles.

This first one is written by Bob Hope about American's living with peace in post-war 1946.

This one is about Bob Hope with some awesome pictures of Hope going through all the emotions!

One last one I just found with some great pictures of Fred Allen, and the article is about why Fred hates Hollywood from 1944.
