Phil Harris Jungle Book replacement

Postby scottp » Tue Aug 03, 2010 9:30 am

I just read in a veteran entertainer's blog that a "Disney expert" told him Phil Harris went in to read for a Jungle Book sequel (of some kind) and he didn't think the lines were true to "Baloo." So they let him extemporize it according to his sensibilites, and then they tossed it all and called someone who could sound like Phil Harris, but who would just read what was written.
True?

The story I had read was that he started to record for "Talespin" and they thought he sounded too "old" and he was replaced by Ed Gilbert. They should have reworked the character to fit Phil's more "mature" voice.
Wait a minute, fellas....wait a minute......fellas.....wait a minute....fellas....fellas.......WAIT A MINUTE!!!
