Sportsmen Quartet

Postby crispy » Mon Apr 12, 2004 8:34 pm

I have a friend that is putting together a visual presentation on the Sportsmen, and he asked me for help on finding sources of photos. Apart from a couple of album covers I found on ebay, I can find nothing for him. Does anyone know of any places online where images of the Sportsmen are available?

Thanks Kids!

The Sportsmen Quartet

Hi,
Online you won't find much in the way of photos of the Sportsmen. If you go to the Temple University archives, you can purchase a copy of a photo of the Sportsmen from circa 1939 (Bill Days, Max Smith, John Rarig, and Thurl Ravenscroft) from the radio show "Hollywood Hotel" (I think that's the title). A copy will cost $25.00. I have many original photos of the Sportsmen in my personal collection but am hestitant to share because they will be part of a book that is in the research stage by my sister. I know Max Smith had some tremendous photos in his personal collections and I have photocopies of those...I would die to have the originals. He passed away in 1999 and are somewhere within his family.

Can I ask you what kind of presentation your friend is doing and why? I am a huge collector of Sportsmen memorabilia (photos, recordings, etc.) and am curious.

You can e-mail me at croonr1@aol.com if you'd like to discuss this further.

Thanks,
Tom
