Jack Benny - 35th Anniversary (1967)

NBC celebrated 10 years in 1941, CBS 20 years in 1951:
This Ed Sullivan Show was televised April 1967.
Now, a question:
Jack, on his career in 1931, writes "...the weeks went by and by...Christmas of 1931 was a cold Holiday."
1932 is the year given for Sullivan's national radio show: so, did Ed have Jack on some other radio broadcast of some kind in 1931?
This might explain the discrepancy?
Or, as Jack Benny was Number One for NBC, did the network just want to "jump the gun" one year early (naturally allowing CBS to do the same ten years later)?
