One of Jack's Vaudeville Jokes

Postby Yhtapmys » Sun May 18, 2008 1:18 pm

This was republished in the Van Nuys News, January 25, 1927...

Jack Benny tells of a fellow living in Los Angeles. This fellow heard that his mother, who was visiting in New York, had suddenly become ill. Hopping on his bicycle, he rode day and night until he arrived in New York. The doctor informed the son that only California air would help his mother, and that she was too ill to travel. What was he to do? He let the air out of his bicycle tires and his mother, breathing that California air,
promptly became well again.—The Outlook.

How times change.

I've heard that joke somewhere before, and not that long ago. Was it somewhere here?

The Joke

It was heard on one of the Benny Shows. But I couldn't tell you exactly what one. Though I believe it was when they were in New York and he was telling the joke to Dennis. I do remember that.
