Discovered n a thrift store. Taken by an unknown photographer on March 21, 1958.
That's funny, Norman Krasna loved that joke.

Wow! Those are all amazing. Thanks for posting them. Interesting to see a candid of Jack in "serious" mode as well.

The caption says Jack "sits in his Maxwell" somewhat like Santa "sits in his sleigh." Neither Jack nor Santa really have to own the vehicle. Everyone just assumes it is theirs.

Interesting slides. Wasn't his family friends with the Trumans?

Aparently they were great friends. Just from memory, Jack filmed one of his shows in the Truman Library. It was a daring, unconventional move for a network show given the technology of the day. The location audio was so bad Jack demanded that the show not be aired. In the end, the broadcast came off OK, substandard audio and all. Maybe they pumped it through a compressor to turn the squirt gun into a firehose. I bet postproduction cost was no object for film of an ex-POTUS!
Last time I visited the HST Library in Independence there were photos of HST and Jack taken during the production in (what looked like) a permanent display.
