Was Jack a sweater boy?

Postby scottp » Fri Nov 21, 2008 4:49 pm

A local antique mall has a circa 1940 book of men's sweater (crochet?) patterns, with "Rudy Vallee-- NBC Radio Star" as the cover model (he's holding a table-tennis paddle.)
Apparently all the models were "NBC Radio Stars" and by peeking/poking in through the top of the plastic sleeve, I was able to see Fred Allen looking "homey" in a sweater. (I did not say "homely"!)
I could have taken it to the counter and asked for an inspection, but I decided to save my $7.00 and not go through the motions of "a potential sale."
Anyone know if Jack is included?

So, is anyone going to clamor that I should go back and ask to look at it, out of the sleeve?

Hmmm... by "clamour" I meant maybe seven people with a dollar each, or 14 people with 50 cents? You know, like a syndicate?

But seriously, I went back yesterday and couldn't find it (nor the other early 1940s hand-made clothing picture books that were with it.) And my inquiries to the proprietors didn't ring any bells in their memories.
