Cat Eye Ring

Does anyone know how Jack got the same cat eye ring as George Burns? I have read that George's was a gift from Gracie, from only one source only, so I wondering if Gracie also gave one to Jack, or Jack got it as a friendship thing with George.

Does anyone know? ANd how far back do we have proof of him wearing it. The farthest I could find for George was in a movie in the 1930's called, "College Swing."
