Just wanted to let you know that after checking the "When Radio Was" website that the program will rebroadcast two "Jack Benny Program" episodes in the coming days.
The first is tomorrow (September 15th), with the January 16, 1949 episode "Jack's Scrapbook", the third episode he did for CBS after moving over from NBC.
The second is on Thursday, September 20th, with a rebroadcast of the September 25th, 1949 show featuring as guest stars many of the big names (Red Skelton, Edgar Bergen, Freeman Godsen and Charles Correll of "Amos 'n Andy", etc.) who did radio shows for CBS that Fall, many of whom had like Benny moved over from NBC over the prior year.
As far as I know, Chicago's WBBM (780 on the AM dial with a 50,000-watt nighttime signal covering much of Central and Eastern North America) broadcasts the weeknight editions at 1:05 A.M. EDT (12:05 A.MN. local in Chicago), but I don't think they carry the weekend version.
So for tomorrow's show, check to find out where it can be heard in your area; Thursday's show will air on WBBM at 1:05 A.M. EDT Friday morning (late Thursday night in the West).
Tomorrow, Benny will be on first; in the case of Thursday, WBBM will carry it at around 1:30 A.M. EDT.
Again, I don't know anyone who works at "When Radio Was", but I have just found this out, and wanted to share it with all of you.
