AFR music

Postby epeterd » Sun Mar 18, 2012 3:49 pm

I'm curious if anyone knows what the music is that plays at the end of the episodes broadcast on Armed Forces Radio. I assume it's used to fill the extra time where the commercial was cut. Is that Mahlon and Jack's orchestra or is that another orchestra? Not sure what the music is, if it was just written for that purpose or if it cmae from something else. Anyone have any ideas?

It's "I Got The Sun In The Morning" then it segues to (I think) "They Say It's Wonderful". Both songs were written by irving Berlin for "Annie Get Your Gun" in 1946. I don't know who plays the songs.

There's no way the second is a Phil Harris version, not with that piano solo. The first one was a Harris bridge on Sept. 29, 1946.

There's at least one other AFRS filler tune used from a far earlier broadcast, but I'd have to listen around to remember which one it is.
