The Milwaukee Journal of Oct. 22, 1942 had this revelation about the Benny show of Oct. 18, 1942
There was plenty of drama behind the scenes of Jack Benny's broadcast from Camp Williams in Arizona last Sunday. Just days before the program went on, the sound effects power went dead and wasn't fixed until the program was under way. Then it was discovered that the Maxwell auto horn, an integral part of the script which had Benny giving the Maxwell to a scrap drive, had been lost. A saxophone and clarinet were used as substitutes. There was also a thunder and lightning storm, the first in that part of the country since last April, and to make the evening of mishap complete, as the program ended, Mary Livingstone fainted and hurt her knee.
The Bonham Daily Favorite added on Feb. 13, 1943:
While doing a show at one of the camps with Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone fainted dead away, and fell to the stage into the orchestra pit! She didn't mind the bruises—or the torn dress—but her silk stockings!!!
