Mr. Billingsley

I absolutely LOVE this character. In fact, I love it whenever Ed Beloin has any role on the show. There's just something about his delivery that cracks me up. Anyway, does anyone know what episode Billingsley debuted in?

As far as I can tell, it was Christmas Eve, 1939.

I agree. He was such a great character. Rochester sure had his hands full dealing with Jack, Mr. Billingsley and Carmichael.

He is a very funny character. Makes me wonder if one of the writers actually knew someone like him. Bit of scary thought if they did!

There was a strange edge to him that bordered on the creepy sometimes. I some weird way kind of reminds me of Creed on the Office.

Debbie Downer time. I'm not a fan.

I love the idea, but I don't like the writing. It's usually forced and overreaching, or juvenile (in a literal way, like it sounds like a 9 year old wrote it, rather than in a good way). When Jack's show does surreal stuff it is usually more subtle, but Billingsley is the opposite of subtle.

But then I don't like Gracie Allen's shtick much either, which Billingsley reminds me of a little even if one is written "ditzy" and one is written "weird".

Also, I like Ed Beloin a lot when he does other characters, but not this one. He is much better deadpan -- the Billingsley performances are hammy IMO.

Should I just resign from the site now? :-)

:D I agree. He could easily have bodies hidden under his bed or in his closet.

Add me to those who found Mr. Billingsley slightly creepy. Sometimes the character was funny, but mostly just strange.
