In just about everything that I've ever read about Jack Benny's film career, the Paramount musical-comedies which he starred in during the late 1930's and very early 40's are usually dismissed as "bad movies"....However, I've found that whenever I watch one I find it to be a LOT of fun!
True, Paramount titles like "College Holiday", "Man About Town", "Artists and Models" and "Buck Benny Rides Again" will never be mistaken for "Citizen Kane", but they're pleasant diversions in a silly sort of way.
I guess what I really like about them is that Jack is usually something of a ladies' man....true, he's not as sexy as he THINKS he is or WANTS to be, but he usually DOES wind up with the girl (who is a VERY attractive actress like Dorothy Lamour, Ellen Drew, Gail Patrick, Mary Martin, etc.).
I REFUSE to believe that I am the only person who enjoys Jack's Paramount features...Is anyone ELSE out there a fan of these fun films?
