: On the 10-23-62 television show, Jack asks Lawrence Welk what the big deal is about conducting an orchestra. Welk gives Jack his baton, and the orchestra sounds like they're tuning up. Welk takes the baton out of Jack's hands, and the band explodes in a lively music number. Welk gives the baton back to Jack, and the musicians go back to chaos.

: Jack did this EXACT SAME BIT with George Olsen on the Canada Dry series in 1932.

It's really a shame that Jack Benny and Harry Conn parted company so early in Jack's broadcasting career (largely due to a foolish argument by their wives over which guy was the real "brains" and "talent" of the Benny program).

Conn really knew Jack's character (in fact, he helped DEVELOP it) and knew how to write for Jack. Conn wrote several CLASSIC routines and sketches which Jack would hang onto and use for many years after their professional association officially ended.

It makes you wonder what other hilarious bits Harry could have written for Jack through the years!
