I'm always interested in finding out which episodes
are considered to be favorites among JB fans. When
I began collecting shows, I was surprised that many of
the shows that became my favorite were ones nobody ever
talks about....for instance, I would rank Dec. 7, 1941,
Dec. 14, 1941, and Dec. 21, 1941 as my favorites. I
think each actor was completely spontaneous in these
3 episodes. The theme that ran throughout these episode
was in reference to Jack's portrayal of Dr. Jeckell and
Mr. Hyde (Nov. 30, 1941). They did a spoof of the skit
on 12-7-41, and that's the episode in which Dennis first
spoke the infamous line, "What a perfooooorrrrrmance!".
Jack and Phil were very playful on 12-21-41 episode too.
One more episode that I think is worth mentioning
because of it's goofyness is April 18, 1948, "Murder at
the Racquet Club". This was the 3rd attempt to air
"MatRC"....they lost the beginning and ending of the
2 previous shows. By the time they tried it a third
time, everyone was silly and expecting to go off the
air again. Frank Sinatra appears briefly in this 3rd
episode (you hear a whirling sound and suddenly Frankie
starts talking....he was wisked in by a breeze!). Then
as soon as he comes in, he leaves again (another gust
of wind, naturally! ha ha).
What are your favorite goofy episodes?
